Welcome to the first Builder feature on 12twentyfour. I have been fortunate to have been interview and feautred on blogs and websites before and I feel its only fair to return the favour. But that is not the only reason why I want to do this. There are quite a few extraordinary builders out there that I think need some recognition. It is also important to expand the model building community in order for us to network and share this great hobby. So without further ado I present to you Mr Hanzel.
hi everyone! I’m Hanzel, known also as old_skool_SR in most model scale forums. I got to know dadaman aka Raees as an internet modelling buddy in moat of the modelling sites that we are both members are, and I’m honored to be featured in his new website.
I’ve been exposed to automobiles since i was a young child, and started with matchboxes back in the 80s. I used to repaint them with markers and add details to them. When i was 7, my parents bought me my first snap-on kit, and i was hooked on anything that needed assembly – legos, tamiya mini 4wds, model kits, even gundams. I was doing my own thing, not knowing if it was right or wrong. my first decently built kit was in the mid 90s, a r32 skyline. I didn’t know what car it was, i just knew i love the car. this was then the pre- internet era. around mid-2000s, when internet was much more accessible, i stumbled upon several forums, one of them notably is SPC. From there i learned a lot of new tips and tricks, made new friends and learned a lot. It was also on this site that i met Raees.
fast forward to present time, I don’t build as many or as fast as before because of other things (mainly work and family) BUT i still find scale modelling as a great way to relieve stress. I don’t consider myself a great builder, just an average model builder. My main modelling subjects are usually Japanese cars before the year 2000. I just love the cars from the 80s and 90s, maybe because i grew up with them and my daily drivers are also old school (hence the name also – old_skool_SR), i like adding little details, and i build my models the way i want to build a particular car if it was mine. My favorite builds include grassroots style street cars, cars that are you can see everyday on the street and see on the track by weekends. I build for fun, and not for the perfection of it, as scale modelling is a hobby and hobbies are supposed to be fun and stress free. please do enjoy some pics of my work and visit my blogsite (Scaledricers.blogspot.com
) and facebook(scaled ricers) too. Hope you like pics of my two most recent builds, a Honda civic type R EK( and a Toyota ae86 trueno. 🙂
